Tips For Jam Training

keep in mind that the other people are just as nervous, and that your trainer is not there to fail you. Rather they will give you constructive feedback about what you will have done well, what you have done really well, and what you need to improve on. On day three of module training, you will be assesed on whether you improved on your weaknesses, and whether you kept doing what you do well.
There are no perfect instructors out there, and sometimes the tracks you are given are not the easiest. Work with what you have or know.
In regards the choreography, there will be an expectation to learn the choreo overnight, and there is no easy way to learn the choreo - each person is different.
Have a think about how you learn at the moment ? Do you learn by doing/ listening/ reading etc ?
I agree with Danny751, listen to your music over and over and over. Watch the DVD and look at how they present, and what they say. But whatever, don't copy exactly what they say... the trainer will notice...
Most of all, have FUN !!!

I am so nervous about my training in March, because I am a shy person. What I feel nervous is the presentation. Is it we have to memorize the chreo overnight ? Is that difficult?
What if forget? Wow, so worry.
Plese give me some advice. Thanks
I'm in the same boat as you. If all goes well for me this Saturday, I will most likely be on my way to my first training session  I'm excited, but I'm trying not to get my hopes up until I see how auditions on Saturday go. I've never done anything like this before, so I'm kind of stressed... When my instrucotr announced that they were looking for Jam instructors, I told her it was something I wanted to definitely do, but I was planning on waiting until I was more in shape. She suggested I go for it anyway because the opportunity doesn't come along that often & I could start off slow, maybe only teaching a couple songs a class, etc etc... I just hope I'm not getting in over my head!

I am considering doing the training later in the year but am also reasonably shy however once I get back into netball coaching and am again comfortable presenting in front of people I am hoping that will be less of a problem. I adore netball coaching and I love jam and the thought of teaching jam really excites me

I know they are going to be asking some questions, like "Why do you want to be a Body Jam Instructor?" And I really want to have a great answer. Does anyone have any ideas? Truthfully, I can't really pin point it. I love love love to dance, I've always wanted to do something dance-related. I'm also trying really hard to get in shape, and this seems like a great way to really jumpstart that. I've really just been serious about working out since September, when I joined the gym, but with time I have become more and more enthusiastic about it.
I'm kind of a shy person, so I really don't want to be stumbling through my answers with "ums' and "uhs", you know? Does anyone have any tips? 8-[

Wooooorahhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!! Awesome!!!! (Congrats) You will LOVE the Jam training! It was wonderful!!!! I loved it!!!!!
I hope that your instructor every bit as wonderful, technical, and [[[lovingly]]] critical as mine was!!!! (Mine was Kili from 39.... Can I boast that????? Is it too late?!?!?!? O:) )
I loved every minute of it!!!! I'm certain you will too!
Enjoy, bask, take notes, and enjoy! (Yes, enjoy twice!) You'll LOVE it!

You are right, there are teaching cues etc, physical execution, where you learn the moves individually step by step, break each move down.
There are drills on different aspects of teaching as well, as in how to cue effectively and efficiently, rather than reading out a paragraph on how to step touch etc.
But, as CBC said, enjoy !

Have a quick read over the previous posts in this topic, and if anything remains uncertain, let us know. There are some really good bits of advice in here from people who have all done the training.

Was a bit worried initially, wondering whether I could do it or not. But I've decided to just dive in. I absolutely love Jam, so nothing holding me back so far :-D And I must say it's great to read all the advice of you guys!
