Hello Fitness Friends,

maybe somebody of you is into the German group fitness market. So far I have the impression that LM has some sort of monopoly since BTS and Fitness FX don't seem to be present in Germany. Is there any serious/promising competitor to your knowledge? Would be very happy if you could help me out.

Best regards,

Kai

Why do you want to know?

Anyway, as far i know there's no international alternative for LM, but you may want to explore the Dutch version of pre-choreod GF classes: Club Joy, which actually is selling a cheaper but also sub-standard version of the most popular LM programs, ie bodypump = club power.

Hey John,

thanks for your fast answer! I knew Club Joy already from Holland, they are targeting single clubs, not so much chains. But they do good stuff, they are a serious competitor for LM at least locally. Isn't there anyone serious in Germany apart from LM?

Cheers,

Kai

I haven't heard of any other competitors in Germany. Do Club Joy branch out into Germany aswell or are they exclusively The Netherlands?

I think the biggest competitor to kick into the market is Zumba, it's wiped Jam off the shelf in many places.
This is the only program they produce though.

Club Joy is active in NL only. So what about ZUMBA, does anyone know how it works licensewise? Does the club owner pay a license fee to ZUMBA or is it the trainers that pay money to get certified? Or both?

Cheers,

Kai

Not sure the exact pricing model of zumba, but I suspect the gyms don't pay a licence. I think the instructor pays for the CD's/licence and they can teach it anywhere? I'm not 100% sure.
