Ok, with all the PPCA stuff, thought I would relive some of my old favourites and have been doing this mix:

  • Stuck on You (BC23)
  • Thunderstruck (BC18)
  • Move Your Ass (BC17)
  • Zombie (BC36)
  • Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting (BC27)
  • Shake That Shimmy
  • Shake (BC15)
  • Neck Breaker (BC27)
  • We Are Family (BC19)
  • Breathe Easy (BC23)

Participants have been loving the mix, but I wondered how many of you have been reliving the old times with an old combat release??

And before you say it, I know that "Shake" (BC15) is not a Muay Thai track, but I wanna have a last shot at all my old time tracks before the PPCA steals them away... and Shake is one of my first combat memories, so Muay Thai or not, its IN!!

It's sad isn't it Shane, somtimes I feel like my heart has been torn out. Love your mix. I've just removed "Neckbreaker" from my mix (still the hardest track 8 ever - leaves them totally gasping for breath, and that's only halfway through!). Mine is...

1. Listen To Your Heart/Trouble (28)
2. United Vibe (35)
3. Come With Me (28)
4. Jump That Rock (39)
5. Ballroom Blitz (41)
6. Sweet Child Of Mine (25) - participant request
7. Speed (40) - participant request
8. Cry For You (39)
9. I'mma Shine (33)
10. Because Of You (28) - participant request

Got to do a 45min demo Combat this weekend with another instructor - bringing Combat into a club. Mix is...

1. Angels/Kickin Up A Storm (25) - my most fav warm-up ever!
2. United Vibe (35)
3. Come With Me (28)
4. Jump That Rock (39)
5. Ballroom Blitz (41)
6. Shake Ya Shimmy (22)
7. Ravers Paradise (38)
8. Cry For You (39)
10. Halo (41)

Because we had such a long mix time in Qld between Q4 2009 and Q1 2010 (due to the Canberra Fitness Convention), I managed to teach literally every favourite I've ever had, for about three weeks each. So that became my "farewell" sonatas to the all time favourites.

Goodbye and farewell fabulous Combat music - I will miss you greatly!

What do you mean Shane? Shake is definately a Muay Thai track!!!

The first Muay Thai was in BC14, and every track 7 since then has been muay thai!

That particular muay thai was my favourite for years, and only ended up getting replaced......oh I dunno, probably not till around BC27 with So What.

I only trained on 37 and didn't do Combat before that, so this thread has made me go back and listen to all these songs.
It's a shame that it's unlikely I'll get to ever teach them.

Nice Placebo, in fact I am stealing some of that mix!

1. Angels/Kickin Up A Storm (25) - I've never taught it!! Ok, thats one on the 'to learn quickly' pile.
2. United Vibe (35) - forgot about this one... yes... the knee - side kick combo... yes.
7. Ravers Paradise (38) - another good muay thai, but not sure its better than Shake!

And Mel, I don't know why I thought Muay Thai didn't start until BC16, but that makes my decision that much more justified!!

Special.... :( Its really sad to miss that kinda stuff... cross your fingers on the 17th May that things go "our way" not theirs...

Oooh... Stamp! Forgot about that one too.... and "No Good".......oh, oh and "Warriors Dance".....

So many songs, so little time... possibly.

Damn you PPCA, damn you to HELL!

While you're doing Shake Shane, you should also throw in Ride On Time. Legendary.

Ride On Time was controversially the best track ever for quite some time.

Shake WAS A MUAY THAI!!! One of the best ever albeit a little slow these days - you need to pitch it up!!! Last one with sound effects either. Did you mean Devoted - the Ice Cream Song track 6 from 15?

Other classics for me:

Manana 13
Baby I'm on Fire 8
I Don't Need Nobody 20
Kick Start My Heart 22 (Not the more recent one)
And Jigga Jigga from 25

Okay, the "death knell" has been sounded at my 'big' gym. Someone 'high-up' knows the exact date but has not passed this info on to the plebs (aka - us instructors). We've been told to mix, mix, mix...

So, here's my mix for the next two weeks...

1) Layla/Hot 'n' Cold (40)
2) Save Your Life (31)
3) Field Of Dreams (23)
4) Zombie (36) - always a favourite
5) Hairspray (35) - I don't often play this one as I can't control myself and go "all out" :o  (Sad Old Persons Syndrome I fear!)
6) Black Pearl (43) - due to popular demand
7) The Pretender (35)
8) Crescendos Of Ecstasy (25) - simply because I freaking well love it :)
9) I Won't Be Crying (39)
10) Vienna (33)

The Combat instructors at this gym have decided we're going to do a "Farewell, thanks for the memories" Combat class. So the four of us are going to come up with the tracks we all love, and then we'll team teach them. At least the 'favs' will go out with a bang, not a whimper!
