Hi guys, as some of you may or may not know, I'm currently teaching classes in the Netherlands and I'm returning back to Australia to live permanently in January.

So I've announced this to some of my classes, and I told them that this week I will try and do an "Aussie mix" as a special special for when I'm leaving. I haven't researched hard yet, but wondering if any of you guys can help point out some aussie tracks that you know of.

I "think" these are some:

1.
2.
3.
4. All for believing - Missy Higgins (BB30)
5.
6.
7. Afterglow - INXS (BB36)
8. No Ordinary Thing - Opshop (NZ)
9.
10.

You guys got any more? I need to do this for pump aswell.

For BODYBALANCE:

3. God's Top Ten - inXS (BB34)

For BODYPUMP:

5. Hungry - inXS (BP64)

This is my small help because I don't know many aussie singers/bands... but I love "God's Top Ten"... the song and the choreo! ;)

Cheers!

PS: I googled "aussie tracks in les mills" I got Rogue Traders as an aussie band, so you could include:

2. Voodoo Child (12" Mix) (BP56)
6. On Your Way To The Disco (BP66)

God's top 10, of course! How did I forget to list this one?

I've got another thread in the BP section, so I've got a few great tracks to go on there too.......thanks!

5. Shiver - Natalie Imbruglia

and you also have Show Me Heaven with Tina Arena for a track 8 on BB27.

I think there is some Savage Garden way back in the older releases as well.

3. God's Top ten is the best, but there is also "Torn - Natalie Imbruglia" (41) or way back to "Truly madly deeply - Savage garden) (14)

7. "Counting down the days - Natalie Imbruglia" (31) I like this one, I think it has bear pose. Or back to (16) for "Crash and burn - Savage garden"

9. If you are counting NZ bands, I think this may be one. "Bathe in the river - The Mt Raskil preservation society feat. Hollie Smith" (35)

You seem to get 3 options for some tracks, and then nothing for the rest.

It's a shame you're not doing Step. I did a Step class on Australia day and managed to get the whole thing Aussie.

Wasn't "The Little Wonders" from BB39 an Assie song?

Apologies for a slight off topic but did you not like NL anymore? I have to admit that I really liked Apeldoorn and spent a couple of weekends there when I lived in NL but I was glad to have left the country when I did....4 years on and I'm sure it's changed even more for the worse. Holland = beautiful scenery and great place to visit, but wouldn't want to live there anymore (that kind of goes for most of Europe, unfortunately). :(

I do miss the great food, cycling everywhere (esp. The Hague<>Leiden), and the decent transport system.

yeah Sanddancer, I have to say that living here I've been more miserable than I ever have been in my life. The Dutch are, in general, different.

A couple of weekends and you wouldn't notice it, and I didn't notice when I came for 4 week holiday initially. The Dutch have a strange social structure.........it can take years to get into the "inner circle" with dutchies. Many live life too busy to have friends at all.

I understand why they're too busy, because they must schedule them all in their diaries. Seems it's not possible to "share" friends either. God forbid the idea of catching up with 2 seperate friends and introducing them to each other!

It's very hard to explain in text in just brief words, but let's just say that (generalising here) they are the most unwelcoming, unfriendly and unhelpful people I've ever met. You're just expected to "toughen up" and deal with it. Can't understand dutch? That's your problem, learn the language. Can't drive the quarterly workshop? Bad luck, figure out a way somehow. Getting someone nice enough to give me a lift to the quarterly workshop wasn't easy.

Don't even get me started on the weather. I think it's cuz of the weather that people are so miserable here.
It is, unfortunately, a burnt out, over populated, sad country.

The food is good.

(it's not helping me get into my pre-pregnancy shape though)

Thought I wasn't gonna have any more classes in the netherlands before I leave, but it turns out I'm teaching BB tomorrow. Quickly whipping up my list I started on.

So far I think I'm only missing tai chi warmup and meditation, but haven't had time to actually verify all the artists. But nevermind. Let's see if I can learn the chorrey by morning, lol.

I did a quick google on aussie tracks in Les Mills, and interestingly found this:

Quote

Sebastian has recorded with the following groups, artists, 2009- "Dick Magik Johnson" all Guitars Album, 2006- “Aja Rock” all guitars single and co writing credit, 2004- till Present all guitars “Les Mills” recreated tracks for instructional DVDs and classes supplying “30,000 gyms world wide”,

Well, I didn't learn all the tracks for this morning, but I was able to do some of them.

This is the mix I ended up pulling together:

1. Silver BB18 (no aussie songs for this one)
2. We're all beautiful BB21 (Didn't have the video for Goodnight Moon in my ipod and had no time to get out the DVD)
3. God's Top 10 BB34 (ALWAYS know the chorrey for this one and it's a standing strength classic)
4. All for believing (BB30)
5. Shiver (thanks for this one Pam, love the track and it's easy chorrey to remember)
6. Family Affair BB22 (haven't done this one in ages and no aussie ab tracks)
7. The Rising BB22 (just followed on from the same release for the ab track. Had planned Counting down the days, but didn't have time to go over the chorrey)
8. No Ordinary Thing
9. Veni Redemptor Gentium BB22 (was going to do Bathe in the river, but during the class wasn't confident I knew the chorrey well enough, so I pulled out this old classic at the last minute)
10. Evenstar BB21
11. Song From A Secret Garden (Songs are used in Lord of the Rings, which is filmed in NZ, so it kinda fits :) )

The participants really liked this mix and it got a huge reaction after the class, especially because they're not used to much mixing. In particular "Silver" got a huge reaction immediately after the track, with participants responding with "heerlijk"..........which is a pretty huge compliment in Dutch :)
