Hi guys, as some of you may or may not know, I'm currently teaching classes in the Netherlands and I'm returning back to Australia to live permanently in January.

So I've announced this to some of my classes, and I told them that this week I will try and do an "Aussie mix" as a special special for when I'm leaving. I haven't researched hard yet, but wondering if any of you guys can help point out some aussie tracks that you know of.

I "think" these are some:

1.
2.
3.
4.
5. Black Fingernail, Red Wine - Eskimo Joe (BP 71)/Hungry - INXS (BP54), Kotahitanga - Ocean (New Zealand)
6. On Your Way To The Disco - Rogue Traders (BP 66) (British/Australian band)
7.
8. Pretty Vegas - INXS (BP59), Round and Round - Bodyrockers (BP58), I like the way - Bodyrockers (BP560), Thunderstruck - ACDC
9.
10.

Lots of songs it seems for track 5, 6, and 8.........lol
You guys got any more? I need to do this for balance aswell.

1. Tough one - BP30 Tina Arena is about the only one I can think of
2. Lots... BP53 Beds are Burning; BP63 Truly Madly Deeply; BP62 Run to Paradise - Nick Skitz (there are other Nick Skitz ones, but this is the most "Aussie"); BP41 Send Me An Angel; BP32 The Haka
3. BP72 isn't the new one by a Kiwi?
4. BP50 Slave to the Music
5. BP48 Kotahitanga is the best one here! Or BP68 Hook Me Up
6. BP68 Vanessa Amorosi, BP65 Too Much Too Young...
7. BP68 Nick Skitz again, BP37 Kylie, or BP35/25 Gina G
8. You have the best ones!
9. No idea!
10. BP60 So far away

Hi Mel - Beds are Burning is a Squat track... it's not the original Midnight oil version, but the song is Australian
also Voodoo Child - Rouge Traders is also a Squat track and they are an Australian band

Well, they are not quite all Aussie! Some are Kiwi (So Far Away is tenuously so...). Some were originally recorded/made famous by Aussies (Beds are Burning, Truly Madly Deeply)

I'm surprised you didn't recognise Beds Are Burning - did they not teach you about it in school?! It's a political song about forcibly evicting Aborigines from their homelands and refusing to apologise for past actions... OK, maybe not the sort of thing taught in schools. Hmmm, Voodoo Child or Run to Paradise might be a safer squat choice then. All my Aussie participants ask for Run to Paradise, so that must be a good sign!

And AC/DC is about as Australian as fine dining. Only one member (Phil Rudd) is even from the southern hemisphere) the rest are from the UK.

[-( like Angus is an Aussie name.

yeah! I'm coming back to Oz!

Thank gawd really........I'm slowly dying inside here. My health is horrible, I get sick all the time and I've had a blocked nose for 4 months straight now (with 2 bad flu's in between).

I don't have to worry about the mix for 2 of my classes. When I resigned I gave a months notice, but then they came back and told me I had to give a calendar month. ie. it was on 9th December I told them, so that meant I would have to work till 31st January. I told them that was pretty difficult for me to do, especially when it's just for 1 class (the other class I team teach), and I asked for a copy of the contract where this was written, cuz I don't believe I have signed anything like that. They came back with saying if I'm going to break my contract, then my employment is terminated immediately as of now. There's no thanks for all I've done for them, all the fill ins that no one else would do, just treating me like shit (worse than in Australia), zero gratitude and absolutely no understanding when it comes to a misunderstanding with the contract. Instead they make a big deal over it........over ONE class.

That pretty much sums it all up why I hate the netherlands.

That sucks! Honestly for one class you seem like you're jumping through hoops. Good riddance to them, they really don't know how good they had it, esp with your qualifications.

I think that the health issues may have been exacerbated by the stress also. Glad you're coming home. It will give you a boost (body and soul) being on home turf.

And welcome home (very soon!)
