OK. So after changing my mind a hundred times I have committed myself to doing my RPM training in November. It is my second programme after Balance. Now I am panicking. Can I do it. Can my delicate butt do it.
I am after suggestions. What can I do to help me get through this. Have I finally gone crazy? Is it really possible to talk when teaching RPM?

Rpm Training Here I go.......

I've been doing RPM for about 3 years as a participant. I go once or twice a week, but I am now aiming for 2-3 per week. This is what scares me. I know how hard it is to do as a participant, but I do love the buzz it gives me. I am just really concerned that my fitness will let me down on the day. I do cardio training 4 or 5 times a week, but so much of my time is spent teaching balance or doing pt on top of my fulltime job. I am fit but I think I need cycle fitness???

Correct. You need more indoor cycle fitness. I would aim to do 3-4 RPMs per week. If you don't have the fitness you will struggle. Sure eventually you will get the fitness from teaching however coordinators may be reluctant to give you a class if you look like you're coughing up your lungs just getting through it. So my advice is to spend the next few months going regularly to RPM to bolster your fitness.
I did my training for RPM a few years ago. The fitness level was an issue for me too. They still cleared me to teach even though it was obvious my bike fitness was lacking. I am not sure whether they are putting more emphasis on the fitness level now. Perhaps someone who went through the training more recently will comment on this thread.
