Just want to have a little rant.

During bodycombat training we are taught to do a back kick with the target as the knee. Logically, this makes sense and in reality in a fight you would also try and disable an opponent by injuring the knee. Kicking any higher is too slow and easily blocked. Aiming for the groin is particularly stupid because men are very protective of this area and will try and protect this area faster than anywhere else.

So why do Dan and Rach continue doing really high flashy kicks on the video? Just because they can?
I love D&R but this just irks me a little bit.

Yes, I was taught to keep them low.

I am quite guilty of raising them too. I think it's because it becomes a little of "monkey see, monkey do". I learn a lot of stuff off the DVD and obviously I'm more of a visual learner :blush:
