Hey guys,
I just wanted to ask a quick question. When ever i do the lunge track i always really feel it in the back leg rather than the front leg and have to 'kick it out' before the end of the track. I do try to make sure that my weight is evenly spread between both legs and just wondered if there is a specific reason why i might be feeling it so much in the back leg?
Cheers

It's hard to say without seeing your technique - but some things:

1) are you stepping back far enough? If you're not, then more weight will be in the back leg.

2) how much are you squeezing your front butt-cheek?

3) are you putting all the front foot weight in to the heel? (wriggle your toes to check!)

I think it's normal to feel it in the back leg. The lunge is supposed to work both legs, but the back leg is under pretty strong isolation and the pain you feel is actually because the contraction of the isolated muscles reduce the blood supply to those muscles. This is why lunges generally feel so painfully, whether you lift lots of weight or none.

If you think about it, there's also much more gluteal involvement assisting the quads in the front leg aswell.

My both legs hurt and my butt, indeed it's painful, with or without weights. I don't trust my legs whenever the track is done, feels like they won't do what I want them to do :)

Not that this answers your question, but my motto is:

If it hurts without weights... just load the bar up!

I don't think it's anything to be overly concerned about. I always feel it more in the back leg than the front, and can hardly ever get to the end of the track without missing a rep or two (must work on that!). And for some reason, I get pins and needles in my arms sometimes when I'm lunging. What's that all about? lol

That's normal.

That's because your biceps were smashed just a minute before. Since we got smiley plates I prefer to hold them in my hands to avoid the ache in my arms...

Well the lunge track from the latest release (73) is a killer. Half-way through the first side I feel like someone has punched me in the quads. Half-way through the second side, I feel like a big old mule has kicked me in the quads! Yeouch!
