Hi, I am a new RPM instructor and I have a student who is doing a fitness challenge at her work. She'd like to report the mileage she covers during class. Does anyone have an estimate of how many miles we cover in 41? Thanks!

Hi Derekali,

I'm not sure if there's an official answer to your question and as you know RPM is interval training so its not a straight comparison between RPM and road K's.

Generally if you ask an instructor the question, they are likely to answer something like 20 - 25k (12.5 - 15.5m). I see two other ways to answer the question;
1. How far can you ride on the road in 45 minutes or
2. Allow more for RPM being interval training and compare 60 minutes of road riding with 45 minutes of the RPM session, ie how far can you ride on the road in 60 minutes.

Cheers, Mike

Thanks...I think for her purposes it'll be okay to use the 12.5-15.5 miles as a guestimate. But I'll mention the option of a road test as well. Although, we live in Michigan and it may be awhile before we ride outside:)
