Those of you who know me have heard me say every so often "I'm going to do RPM training" and nothing happens. My life has been really busy, not just busy but challenging. At lot has happened this year and now I'm at a place where it is time to pursue the things that are my passion.

So its RPM training at North Sydney, NSW, Australia on the 10th and 11th January and I'm excited.

Thanks Danika, still haven't been assigned to work in Canberra so I haven't had the pleasure of your instruction.

I don't know who the trainer is going to be, but I'm hoping its REVS. That reminds me to send REVS a message to encourage him to do a bunch ride this Sunday.

On Sunday, I rode 170k so I've got the endurance for the training, I've just got to remember to shove large quantities of food and water into me :)

I sweat like a man (cos I am one) so I'll be bringing plenty of clothes. You don't want me to be smelling like a man ah :)

Fresh sweat is manly imho. I think my other half looks great when he's all sweaty - although I do send him to the shower before he starts smelling too manly!

Good luck on your training!

Thursday 6.15am Rockdale FF, Sydney

Nah, not that bad, I'll just be sitting beside the instructor, not doing anything.

good luck Mike, just remember to smile and keep the same cadence as the instructor, it always looks nicer when both of the people on stage are on the same leg and cadence...

Thanks Danika

Set the alarm for 5.30am, got up at 5.20am (who needs alarms), left at 5.45am and rode thru light rain.
Arrived at Rockdale FF at 6am, changed my clothes, put the bike on the stand and did the deed at 6.15am
Yes I was conscious of cadence, but what I did wrong was matched the wrong leg, I should of matched left with left, which makes a lot of sense once you are told, pity I didn't know before.

Rode home, had breakie, rode to work.

During the morning I had an SMS conversation with another instructor (and actually squeezed some work in too  ) Discovered that there is a dominant beat and I didn't know about that. Some other tips too.

Went to Park st FF and did 12.15pm RPM, told instructor before of my team teaching and how I need to learn the dominant beat. During the class I'd match my cadence to the instructor, including the correct leg, ie right with right and then I'd look away while listening to the beat.

Should of paid attention during music lessons back at school.....That's the problem with Coed.

good work Mike :)

Just a thought........there could be a reason why you're using the wrong leg. It's the age old LM instructor mirror image problem. When you were on the floor you would have been mirroring your instructor perfectly. Now you're on stage next to him you have to switch legs.

It's a lot easier with programs like pump and rpm with the mirror image thing. it's not really present in those programs :)

Missed out on Shadowing this morning, the instructor was substituted. Never mind, I get to Shadow on Tuesday morning.

2 of the instructors have given me music/cadence lessons and its being invaluable, I recon that understanding the music is going to be my greatest hurdle.

I've been so busy doing RPM classes, that I'm not getting to yoga, so I'd thought I'd practice some yoga during a break in my Sunday bike ride

Is 42 out ???? dam I thought I would be training on 41, anyway look forward to that interval track.

Did Revs class the other day, he doesn't know if he's training me or not. Revs did a track from 39 and apparently its got the highest cadence of any rpm track at 142.

BTW Merry Christmas

Christmas Photo

And happy birthday (tomorrow) Danika
