• Interests:I am totally addicted to Combat and Jam and also love Pump, Balance, Spinning and Boxercise. I have also recently started Kick Boxing classes, which are wicked. I do 14 classes per week and probably would do more if there were more hours in the week.

I love all of my awesome instructors, who make all of the classes so much fun.

My goal is to one day train as a Combat and / or Jam instructor.

My favourite saying is 'Go hard or go home'

I am new to Jam (only done 2 classes so far) and love it. I think it may become another addiction (like combat  ). I was just wondering what clothing everyone wears? I tend to wear Nike tracksuit bottoms and Nike Fit-Dry vests as i sweat quite a lot :-& for other classes but would like to maybe wear something different for Jam but dont know where to start.

I sweat heaps as well so you are not alone there... I even had someone mention that fact to me when I was covering at a local gym. An instructor in the class came up after and mentioned that I used my sweatbands a lot to wipe my forehead etc. She used to own her own gym, so I took the feedback on board, and now almost every class later I wear a hat/ bandana/ sweat band/ beanie etc. The sweat stays off my face, I keep my armlines where they should be, and I don't get sweat in my eyes or contact lenses.

As for sweating or appearing to sweat - black or dark coloured clothing helps here, but don't forget this is a fitness class first and foremost - you are allowed to sweat. Showing that you can sweat in a jam class will help convert some of those members who think Jam is an easy cardio class with complex moves etc.

As for specific clothing to wear etc - Jam doesn't really have a set uniform like all the other programs do. There are no colours, there are no styles, and there is no requirement to wear trousers or shorts, crop tops or baggy t-shirts etc. Mix things up a lot not a little. Keep your clothes as fresh and new as your choreography and the different dance styles that you teach. Jam is funky, fun and a little over the top - step out of your comfort zone and do the same with your clothes !

One thing I would suggest is make sure your clothing is loose enough to allow you to move in, but not too loose that it hides the choreography etc. You don't want yourself tripping over huge trousers, and your members want to be able to see your footstrikes etc.

A rule of thumb I am working towards is - at the end of the class, could you wear the same clothes to the mall/ to a nightclub etc without drawing attention to yourself ?

The stuff they have in the videos is useful somewhat -- we were able to use Ginny's look in 44 (shorts, tights under). But usually I try to find a nice funky top and pair it with cropped pants.
Incredible!
