Last month I did my first Les Mills training ever-lucky me-it was on this totally wicked release 45. I have been an avid (rabid) Jam participant for over a year, but boy is there a big difference when you move to the instructor side. I was like a deer in the headlights when it came to cueing. I can dance really well when I don't have to use my brain, but apparently there's a disconnect between my feet and when my brain starts to think about cueing and my mouth has to open. It didn't help that I had track 9, in which I looked like a mutant pokey pony with that house knee. I've been practicing like mad (I've got the knees down now) but I would sure appreciate any advice anyone has for the re-sit. I actually requested to audit the first day of training too-glutton that I am. I have never taught any group fitness program before so I figure the more time I can spend with a master trainer the better!!!! [-o<

I trained on 45 too! Fantastic release! Track 9 is a killer I know. I'm so relieved I didn't have to present that.
If your gym has other Jam instructors, teach your track to them and ask them for feedback. Different instructors have different experiences - they'll be able to note different aspects for you to improve.
Another technique I used in the weeks leading up to training is to join a normal class, but stand at the back and do instructor's side. Face away if you have to! The point is to get used to starting on your left foot (even as you tell your class to go right!). Once you are comfortable with that you can focus on your cueing.
All the best! Let us know how it went.

Congrats Chris
Glad you finally went thru! About time, huh? Good luck in your journey from here on out! And hope to bump into you in future quarterly.

Gandalf have said, very little people born to dance, and others have to work on it, practise practise and practise, and I can say now IT IS TRUE!!!

Well done Sy2003. I recently trained on 49 also. I got a withheld so now I am working on the points they have given me to work in as I start shadowing and team teaching in September with the occasinal shadow now.
