Try any class at least once! I personally had lots of fun doing Vive coz of the music (despite it being in someones living room :-$ ) & I'm 24.
Its your workout, do what you want & make it fun!

Actually although Vive seems to be pushed for the older age group - the work out is execellent for everyone; especially those who want something less athletic than Attack etc. The Chi-ball work outs sometimes seem a bit corny - but then I also respect the type of moves it offers and the ability to increase flexability. Sometimes in gyms you will also see the muscle bunnies doing something similar with balls... oh er missus.

As Natty said, go for it, enjoy and most importantly...

HAVE FUN!
Exercise the body... but dont forget the mind and soul!

Jess, I used to regularly get a mother and her teenage daughter to my class and often there would be some 'twentysomethings' amongst the group. It is a good lower intensity option for the days you want to work out but not at a high level like, say, Body Attack. The music is the real drawcard as it is well known to all age groups. The older participants will know the original versions, and there are so many remakes of old songs ,that the younger ones will know many of the songs too. If you look beyond that fun surface though, there is some solid strength work with the Vive Ball and Vive Band and can be intensified to your own fitness level. Trust me - I can work up a very good sweat in Vive and feel muscular aches the next day! The levels and options are there for all to choose from. I really hope Vive can break away from being marketed to the mature age group only (I know LM are trying) as everyone can get enjoyment and a great workout from it. I think, in my club, the damage was done at the sales desk where young sales people (who had never done the class) pitched it as a seniors class - arghhh!

Actually, on my Balance-training one day ago, our trainer said (who is the marketing thingy for LM Baltic, Katarina Zell) says that Vive IS supposed to be aimed at women over 40. They're not trying to get younger people to do it in their marketing because their goal is older women. So those labeling it a senior's class are totally correct and nothing to get upset about.

Like I said, this came from the words of one who is in charge of the marketing in LM Baltic, I doubt she'd be wrong about it.

I think that has to do with marketing and is a smart move. Because the ones that are already in the gym will try everything regardless their age ( I'm a 45 year old woman and do BS, BB, BP, RPM and sometimes Attack). But there is a group of people a little afraid they can't keep up, I'm trying to get my sister to the gym for 3 years with no luck although she said she likes to go. So I think they are aiming to get the woman who likes to walk for an hour with her friend after dinner. New people in the gym. But that doesnt mean Vive is a piece of cake or not suitable for everybody. It's not my thing but I love to Balance for a bit of relaxing work-out, and I do feel my muscles after that too.
And I do understand people are sometimes a little afraid to take a class. I love to dance but am a little uncoordinated. I promised to take the new Jam classes only because my daughter will teach them, although I am glued to the window every week for over 3 years now, it looks so very cool. But I'm not sure I can learn it in a couple of weeks and that and some unpleasant 15 year olds made me very insecure before. But in my heart I know it is just a bridge I have to cross and I will love it. So wish me luck!

Im over 40 and male I quite enjoy doing Bodyvive even though most of the time Im the only guy in the class ! . Yes I do BB BP RPM weights and spaing in the boxing ring. As Im pretty much uncoordinated I cant do a whole class of Jam I just get totally tied up. The dance part of vive is good in that its starting to develop my coordination better. Even my PT trainer who is a kickboxer says that vive is doing me a lot of good.

Generally with vive are they not marketing it wrong. In some of the vive classes they struggle to get 10 people. Its like 5-6 years ago in Bodybalance when a class had 20-30 women and 2-3 men because the perception was it was soft and fluffy and only stretching (u know things you do after exercise). Its changed now.

Maybe vive should be sold to those who need a workout without the stress and promote the really great old music, maybe use the music to target the market (that gives you a specific market). :-({|=

If you like the music, the moves just go for it, its fun O:) listen to what people say then try it for yourself, then make your mind up

I'm a 34 year male BV instructor trained on BV3. My class averages between 8 and 12 participants, mostly women over 35. But after talking to a lot of them, they do participate in at least one other LM class.

I always stress that BV is a great class for anyone new to group fitness, returning to group fitness after injury, pre and post natal, or anyone else looking for a great workout who needs a break from something more intense. It is definitely their workout and they can make it as intense as they need to. I teach BodyStep and BodyAttack as well, and while I don't sweat as much in BV, it still makes me sweat.

We always tell people to try it at least 5 times before they make a final judgement.

With all that said, it's a great class with great music and they are really stepping it up in the heart fitness and functional strength tracks from BV1 and BV2.

From someone who is new to the group fitness scene, BV is totally an awesome intro to group excercise. I admit that I don't feel as self conscious in there as I did when I took a BS class. With BV it's easy to learn the moves but if you mess up, it's simple to catch up. The only part I don't like of the class is the where you have to lay on your back and roll the ball around. My favorite is the resistant tubes as it really helps with arms/hips. I also like the "locomotion" and "legs" section.

I'm 25 and do BV, I like to mix it up sometimes and I find I get a great workout.

I wear a polar HR monitor and last time I did it I burnt 400 calories!!
What doesn't kill me will only make me stronger!!

According to Steve Renata at the GF Session at the last SQW, Vive is being remarketed to deconditioned people of any age as well as 40+ and those new to GF which will be good, I'm away to do my training for Vive in August and can't wait to do it!
