Nope, haven't been to FF Chats for a while. My daytime job is contract and I've worked off and on at Chats, but now that customer has moved, so I'm not likely to be back.
R u a BB instructor?

BP and RPM will be last week of August (they hope)
From now on, all releases will only be PPCA-free. We are NOT given both versions, like previously mentioned - just the PPCA-free version.
From reading the response to instructors on Facebook, the "Best Ofs" are primarily from the PPCA-free list we've had for a while. There are a few tracks that are new (as in re-done I believe). As I'm not trained in any of the so-far released "Best Of" programs, I can't check lists, but maybe someone else can take a look on LMAP site.
That's all from the LMAP Facebook updates.

Be thankful that you have so much time! We were given 2 days notice to move PPCA-free.
Although, the gym has since reversed that decision until November 2010, where they have given us warning that the change is coming, and will provide 30 days written notice. So I'm getting all of my PPCA goodness out of my system.
Just a shame I only teach BA there, not BB, as I'm still stuck in the PPCA-free BB world.

Figured as much based on the FB feedback... people are pretty upset by this.
I wonder if all releases worldwide will be PPCA-free now, or if it's just LMAP that get these ones.
Surely financially it's not in LMI's best interest to release two versions of the disc due to copyright implications (one for the original artist, one for the cover artist and rights to the song)

In all honesty, LMI had to go PPCA-free for Australia as it's such a huge market. I mean, imagine if all the major gym chains just dropped LM programs? LM would lose untold amounts of dollars in licensing fees, not to mention good will. They would never get the trade back. The hole in the group fitness industry would immediately be filled with "Radical Fitness" and USAs "BTS" (Group Ride/Kick/Power, Centergy etc).

I can only hope that because LMNZ is doing the covers, they are decent.
This whole PPCA mess has me feeling crabby again. Can't they just sort their shit out and let us get back to teaching awesome classes with great music.

I really hope we're getting the same as the rest of the world. I will be peeved if we can't at least have the back catalog of original music if the decision is ever reversed.
On the other hand, having the original music along side the copied version will make instructors complain more and be tempted to break the rules. On the other hand, there are easily means and ways of getting the copies (ssssh, I didn't say that!). That's IF LM are sending a seperate disc to Australia?
Meanwhile, in a newsletter from Fitness Australia:

From speaking with someone who is a little closer in the LM family, it sounds as if we are only going to be given the PPCA-free versions from now on.
The rest of the world will continue to get the PPCA versions as they do not have the copyright issues we are having.
But, given the misinformation we've been given before, I really don't know what to believe until we get the official word from LMAP to see what's happening.

Again, from said source, the Q3 music is sounding better than the Q2, so fingers crossed. LMI have proven in the past they can produce top notch covers, so let's hope Q3 is no exception.
The Balance "Best Of" has some positive, but also could have been better - 2 re-made tracks (which is great as they are 1 and 5 which we only have BB49 to use at the moment), but the rest I already have... it would have been great if they went back to 26 and 29 for the Sun Salutations as you can't buy those any more (while you can still buy 40 which is where "Apparition" comes from), so technically you can still get Apparition the legit way.
I'm at the stage now where I'm a lot more content with the decision - sure it's upsetting as there are some great BB releases that we can no longer use, but there's little we can do about it. I was in the situation where one of my clubs went PPCA-free with 2 days notice - so we didn't get the chance to do our favourite tracks one last time. But they have since reversed the decision - but we still went PPCA-free for about a month. They've told us it will change in November, with official warning in October, so I'm looking at the bright side and the fact that we have 3 months left to use whatever we want - and I'm using this to my advantage - getting all of the old PPCA music into my BA mixes (Total Eclipse, Objection, Rock Star, Zombie, etc) and pumping it hard as this is it - the last time - but at least I know over the next three months, it will be the last time so I'm ready for it.
And you know what - my classes rock because I'm picking the great music for right now. Yes, it's upsetting that I can't use it past November, but for right now, members don't care - they're getting a great workout, I'm getting slightly scary with my enthusiasm to said great music, and the classes are a smash. So I'm just trying to continue doing this.
Just a shame that I'm stuck in the PPCA-free only Balance... mixed what I can but still...

Interestingly enough, when you think about it this is actually a clever and very political move from LMAP, because this in effect totally renders the PPCA licensing completely useless. The PPCA believed that some gyms would be able to have a competitive advantage by choosing to stay with original music, but if LMAP are no longer producing PPCA music, then where's the advantage? What gym will pay the licensing fees for the priviledge to play back catalogues?
As far as I know, most freestyle music is already PPCA free.
One more nail in the coffin for the PPCA.
